Bachoco OK Foods is seeking a Floater Nurse for our Fort Smith, AR location. 

 

Summary:

Be available in the Nurse's Station to attend to and follow up on occupational injuries and illnesses and provide emergency medical assistance as needed. Provides preventive treatment as needed to plant workers.

 

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 10:00am - 6:00pm                                                

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

    •  

Provides immediate medical attention for any serious injuries.

  • Provides medical attention for minor injuries.
  • Provides preventive treatment such as wrapping wrists, paraffin wax treatment, etc.
  • Performs post-employment physicals.
  • Follows-up on light duty personnel to ensure that doctor's orders are being followed.
  • Initiates accident reports and forwards to the proper personnel.
  • Fills out paperwork and reports as needed. Files paperwork as needed or directed.
  • Performs non-DOT drug and alcohol testing following Company policy.
  • Assists the Safety Department during the annual hearing testing and in the follow up to the testing.
  • Documents all medical procedures in the Nurse's notes.
  • Monitors AED status; performs periodic tests and reports results to Safety Director.
  • Inventories and/or orders supplies as assigned.
  • Opens band-aids as needed.
  • Keeps Nurse's Station clean and neat.
  • Helps enforce food safety measures such as SQF including GMPs.
  • Maintains an excellent attendance record. Notifies the Nurse Supervisor as soon as possible of any absences. Checks with other facility Nurses to fill in for absences.
  • On call as needed. Call schedule is a rotation of one full week of on-call between other staff nurses at your assigned location.  Must be prepared to come in on call when there is no nurse on duty or any shifts are being covered by a temp nurse, or as needed.
  • When on call: answers phone, stays within one hour's travel of the assigned Nurse's Station, and responds when called.
  • Working on weekends or other normally unscheduled hours may be mandatory if staffing cannot be provided through temporary agencies or other O.K. Nurses.
  •  Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                  

 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed as an EMT, LPN, RN or other designation as deemed sufficient by the Medical Director.

 

Language Skills                                                              

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                     

 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability                                                          

 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills                                                             

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

EMT, LPN, RN or other as designated by the Medical Director. Must have a valid driver's license and must qualify for the company driving program.

 

Other Skills and Abilities                                                           

 

Must be able to communicate with the Medical Director's staff, temporary staffing agencies, OK Management and OK Employees.
