Bachoco USA is seeking a PSM & Safety Compliance Officer for our Fort Smith, AR Central Offices.

 

Job Summary: The PSM & Safety Compliance Officer will organize, implement, and maintain the Corporate Safety programs including but not limited to; Process Safety Management, Lock Out Tag Out, Electrical Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Machine Guarding, other programs as identified   by performing the following duties.                                                 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Organize and maintain the Process Safety Management (PSM) program for Bachoco USA's ammonia refrigeration systems, equipment, and personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with PSM/Risk Management Plan (RMP), all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Organize, implement and maintain the Lock Out Tag Out, Electrical Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Machine Guarding and other identified safety programs for OK Foods Inc. and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Organize and provide mandated safety program training to applicable associates and contractors.
  • Being critical to safety operations, the Safety Compliance Officer will review and assist with the Management of Change (MOCs), Pre-Start up Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
  • Review corrective action plans for projects to ensure compliance and viability with the pertinent safety programs
  • Organize and provide leadership for the 14 elements of PSM and all other designated safety programs.
  • Serve as the primary respondent in the event of PSM audit activity.
  • Actively participate in PSM team activities and work to improve skillsets by staying abreast of current regulations & technologies.
  • Coordinate with and schedule employees for PSM, Confined Space, Hazmat, and Hot Work or other designated safety training programs to ensure compliance when necessary.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.

Education and/or Experience: College degree; or in the process of obtaining. Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Specific work experience in Process Safety Management Auditing activities.  Practical experience in safety programs, including knowledge of  Lock Out Tag Out Procedure development is highly desired. 

Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) associated with ammonia refrigeration systems. 

Experience with developing, implementing, and maintaining OSHA required safety programs is required.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  Ability to communicate effectively and follow detailed written and verbal instructions

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:  Must have a valid driver's license and must qualify for the company driving program.  Completion of OSHA 511 certification.

 

Reasoning Ability:  To apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and technical specifications.  Ability to read and understand complex regulatory requirements.  Ability to learn and understand OSHA Emergency Response requirements. 

 

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully an individual should have practical working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

 

Other Qualifications:  Highly organized and able to think systemically to structure the work and design in a logical flow.  Other key attributes include: self-motivated, organized, computer literate, attention to detail and follow through with exceptional writing and communication skills.  Ability to conform to all OSHA, PSM, HAZMAT and Bachoco USA safety programs and regulations.  Ability to learn and understand OSHA Emergency Response requirements.  Ability to demonstrate excellent safe work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment including any shift, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.  Ability to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
