Bachoco USA is seeking a Shipping Superintendent for our Albertville, AL plants. 

 

Summary: This role reports directly to the plant manager and oversees all departmental Albertville functions for Supply department (s), Shipping and Receiving operations, Condemn and Recycling operations, and other plant needs by performing the following duties. Provides leadership and direction in purchasing, receiving, storing, and issuing of packaging materials.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to.

  • Ensuring Timely and accurate orders of all needed materials such as ingredients, packaging, and other needed supplies to be at the facility for production operations to commence as scheduled.
  • Forecasting and figuring needs, creating purchase orders, and performing intercompany transfers.
  • Purchase order processing from vendors for all items except ingredients (works with Purchasing team on ingredient needs regularly).
  • Responsible for packaging, operating supplies, utensils, bins and other receptacles, protective clothing, other special purchases, and maintaining quantities of these items.
  • Shipping and receiving policies and procedures incoming materials.
  • Shipping and receiving polices of all finished goods.
  • Monitoring production schedule VS on hand inventory to ship unneeded goods.
  • Manages FIFO functions pertaining to materials for production.
  • Responsible for food safety requirements, allergen compliance, accuracy, etc.
  • Purchase order processing, intercompany transfer generation, etc.
  • Cycle count selection of materials routinely to ensure accuracy of items and locations.
  • Responsible for the documentation, tracking, and adjusting damaged materials.
  • Works closely with quality administration regarding tractability for all goods.
  • Chemical inventory, ordering, tracking usage, etc.
  • This is a safety sensitive position. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages 4 supervisors 8 leads and 40 hourly employees in the 2 plants. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these team members. Tracks and takes action where needed on usage opportunities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
  • Monitors actual usage VS spec requirements, as well as usage VS actual on hand post production levels and makes necessary, proper adjustments.
  • Responsible for reporting of deviations of usage and corrections made.
  • Works closely with purchasing and process control personnel on deficiency of figures.
  • Responsible for reporting of operating supplies used, chemicals used, all other materials used on a given date/week/month.
  • Working closely with purchasing team, to ensure current inventory of certain items are sufficient or more is needed from the vendors.

 

Directly supervising our frozen finished goods shipping and receiving dock/ frozen storage location.

  • Managing inventory of products on hold, test inventory, rework, etc.
  • Coordinates finished product returns form distribution points for rework.
  • Responsible for weekly finished good inventory to maintain SOX compliance.

 

Managing personnel and making the necessary changes to system to stream line the shipping and receiving as well as inventory management processes.

  • Training, coaching, identifying needs of individuals to perform to an optimum level, inter alia, creating constancy of purpose. Removing obstacles that rob the hourly worker of the right to pride of workmanship.
  • Serving as a mentor to both direct and indirect reports across the facility.
  • Taking ownership of areas, performance, holding personnel accountable, communicating obstacles with other members of the management team to remove barriers between departments, and drive out fear so that everyone may work effectively for the company.

 

Monitors condition of all PIE equipment for the facility. Coordinates needed repairs, projects, purchases for the plant with our equipment provider.

  • Forklifts.
  • Power jacks.
  • Manual jacks.
  • Dock, all trailer restraint equipment, and overhead door needs.
  • Monitors condition of all weight measuring equipment. Coordinates needed repairs, projects, purchases for the plant with equipment provider.
  • Monitors and reports to Plant Manager, issues and concerns related to facility condition. Communicates/arranges needed repairs when needed.

 

Responsible for the recycle/condemned departments (both shifts).

  • Dock personnel.
  • Coordinating loads of recycle material shipments, weight compliance.
  • Empty trailer availability.
  • Coordinates the loads of breader and grease to be picked up daily.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, or employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
